Good Tidings May 18-24

Good Tidings: May 11 - 17, 2020
A Note from the Chaplain
To all our students, alumni, donors, and friends of the Catholic Center,

Happy Easter! I pray that this has been a time of joy even in the midst of so much chaos and uncertainty. As we’ve finished out the school year and begun the summer semester with online classes, I wanted to send an update of everything going on here at the Georgia Tech Catholic Center.

COVID 19 Updates

Atlanta: Due to the continued spread of COVID-19 in Georgia, the Archdiocese of Atlanta will extend the suspension of Masses through the end of May.

Georgia Tech Catholic Center: Under the direction of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, the Catholic Center will remain closed until further notice. However, Father Branson will be hearing confessions by appointment. Please see below.

For the most recent updates, go to the Georgia Tech Catholic Center Website at
Sacramental Confession
We have once again been provided the opportunity to offer individual Confession, by appointment only. This is based on current Archdiocesan guidelines which are subject to change. Priests are to maintain necessary social distancing from the penitent while maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of the confessional.  Please use the link below to make an appointment.
Faith Formation
Reawakening Our Humanity
Julián Carrón

In Reawakening Our Humanity, Julián Carrón describes the "unforeseen and unforeseeable interruption of reality, wearing the face of the coronavirus,” that could provide the great possibility of rediscovering the humanity that this situation offers us: from solitude to silence, from sharing to friendship, to the awareness that we have of ourselves and of the world.

It takes an active effort to continue faith formation while apart from a faith community. To bridge this gap, we propose this text to read as a community from which fruitful discussions can continue among friends regardless of where we are.

Mass Broadcasts & Readings

Although many of us do not have access to Mass, we can still engage in our faith by reading daily scripture and through viewing various online and televised broadcasts. Use the links below to find Mass broadcasts as well as the daily readings.
Spiritual Communion
For those without access to the Blessed Sacrament.

My Jesus,
I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.

Liturgy of the Hours
What is it?  How do I do it?
Liturgy of the Hours (a.k.a Divine Office or the Breviary) is a form of daily prayer "marking the hours of each day and sanctifying the day with prayer." In times of isolation, it is great resource to stay connected to the universal church in prayer. Below is a link to the daily readings, as well as a guide on what it is/how to pray it.
