Pray For The Ears To Listen

My greatest fear as a senior graduating high school was if I would find a godly community in college. The summer prior to my freshman year at Tech, I began researching the various Christian campus organizations and once I arrived I began applying myself. However, none of it clicked. Events would clash with my schedule and one ministry I checked out was undergoing renovations. By October, I had grown weary and began to wonder if the Lord was going to provide the Christ-centered environment that I prayed for during my time in high school. Then, I came to the Halloween party at the Catholic Center and ran into some of my friends from the Theme Park Engineering and Design Club (one of them eventually became my sponsor) and saw the face of Jesus within the joy of this community. Even though I grew up Protestant, the Lord softened my heart to the Catholic community and that same community embraced me whole heartedly in a way that I will be forever grateful for. Since that Halloween night, I began to discern joining the Church and in November of last year, I joined OCIA. Then, this past Easter, I was confirmed with my friends, who I now call family, by my side. When the Lord speaks, He speaks loudly even when it is in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar faces and you are dressed as Edgar Allen Poe at a Halloween party: always pray for the ears to listen.
